How are Carpet Tiles Made
Carpets are widely used around the world, as a way to provide warmth and comfort to domestic homes and businesses. There are a wide range of different carpets in production, including many that are made from natural and synthetic materials. One particular type of carpet that differs not in terms of fibre but in terms of construction is known as carpet tiles (Teppichfliesen) . Carpet tiles are generally available in 50 cm square pieces, although other sizes are also available in certain situations. Carpet tiles are normally only used in commercial settings, although there are some exceptions to this rule. For example, some people use carpet tiles in their work areas, sheds, or bar areas, along with other parts of their home that may suffer from a lot of wear and tear.
Carpet tiles and are normally installed by being affixed with a special pressure sensitive glue, which needs to hold the tiles in place while also allowing for easy removal. In locations like office environments or shops, ease of removal is an important point of consideration for example. In some locations, people may also choose to rearrange their carpet tiles in order to spread wear across a larger area, making ease of removal an even more important factor. Modern carpet tiles are normally produced using the standard method of tufting. Tufted carpets have their pile material injected into a backing material, which is then bonded to a secondary backing material that is comprised of a woven hessian weave or synthetic alternative.
Modern commercial tufting is the most common method of manufacturing carpet tiles, and indeed all domestic carpets around the world. While the use of wool, natural bindings, natural padding, and formaldehyde-free glue has become more common in wider carpet manufacture, most carpet tile products are produced at a lower cost and still use synthetic materials. The most popular materials used to make carpet tiles include acrylic, polyester, nylon, and wool. Polyamides and polypropylene make up for an estimated 90% of the commercial market, and are used in the vast majority of carpet tiles in production around the world.
